The Boardroom Runs On A Different Language. Learn It Before You Need It.

TechWomen4Boards

Ask a first-time board director about their first meeting and you tend to hear the same story. Twenty years of leadership behind them, a seat at the table, and a room speaking a language executive life had only hinted at.

Governance. Fiduciary duty. Risk oversight. And the list keeps growing too, with AI, cyber risk, and ESG.

Two questions follow, and both are blunt. If a board seat opened in your sector tomorrow, could you take it with confidence? And who gets the chance to prepare?

The access problem holding boards back

Let’s start with the second question, because the business and technology industry can answer it unevenly. Women are building companies and leading innovation across sectors, but boardrooms and investment circles still tell a different story.

The difference is access

Sponsorship, networks and funding pathways carry some candidates forward and pass over others. This means organisations lose out by missing the decisions and stronger governance that diverse boards bring. This is especially important at a time when investors, regulators, and customers are watching most closely.

Events like The Business Show prove the point from the other direction. Opportunity moves when the right people meet, and board appointments work the same way. Change who is in the room, and you change who ends up at the table.

Our partner, TechWomen4Boards, was built to make that change.

The community built to change it

The founders of TechWomen4Boards kept seeing talented women progressing through the business and technology industries without the sponsorship and networks available to others.

They responded by building a community where female founders and corporate leaders are supported, connected and positioned to lead, working towards a future where women are a driving force behind innovation, governance and success.

That work runs through four key programmes.

The EADA-certified Board Readiness Programme

Open to senior executives of all genders, the Board Readiness Programme carries certification from EADA Business School in Barcelona, one of Europe's leading business schools.

Taught by practising board directors and built for busy diaries, the programme runs online: a full-day opening session, eight weekly evening modules and a capstone project. Participants leave with the credential and the peers that win appointments.

The curriculum covers the ground boards are now tested on:

  • Governance, compliance, and ethical oversight

  • Strategic finance and capital stewardship

  • Board dynamics and stakeholder engagement

  • Risk oversight and cybersecurity

  • Data, digital transformation, and AI

  • ESG and sustainability

This programme runs at least twice a year. The next cohort begins on 25 September 2026.

More ways into the TechWomen4Boards community

A board seat is one goal among several, and the support starts well before the boardroom:

  • Group Mentorship runs in monthly online cohorts built around three themes: Leading with Power, Presence and Coaching; Driving Market Impact; and From Visibility to the Boardroom.

  • EDGE (Executive Development for Global Effectiveness) is a six-week online programme developing strategic leadership for a world shaped by AI, ESG and global complexity.

  • Membership connects women to a network of senior professionals and industry leaders for mentorship, career opportunities and business advice.

All four programmes feed the TechWomen4Boards community, and once a year, that community meets at their Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony.

Proof the community is working

Each year TechWomen4Boards gathers at The Caledonian Club in London for the Leadership Awards and Gala Dinner

This year's black-tie ceremony on the 30th of June drew guests from the US, Iceland, Switzerland, Thailand, France, and other parts of the world.

Honorary Community Awards and leadership awards went to shortlisted finalists, founders, executives and board directors among them. Programme graduates collected their certificates in front of honorary judges and distinguished guests from government, diplomacy, and royalty.

Claim your place in the room

Now let’s return to the first question: if a board seat opened in your sector tomorrow, could you take it with confidence?

Boards need leaders who understand technology, growth, and change. The language of the boardroom is learnable, the network that gets you shortlisted is buildable with the support of partners like TechWomen4Boards.
