Rivers of Mercy in Partnership with SWAN London
After returning to Palestine from a refugee camp in Jordan, she faced
educational challenges but remained determined. She met and married Yussef through shared social work at the YWCA Jerusalem.
In 2006, they moved to England, where she learned English and pursued her education with
Yussef’s unwavering support. Yussef also built a house in Jericho, intended as a hub for
healthcare and social initiatives.
Yussef sadly passed away in 2016 from cancer and amylodiosis, but his vision lived on through
the home in Jericho, and a beautiful daughter Reem.
The combination of the three birthed a
dream and the conception of “Rivers of Mercy”
.
By 2023, the project expanded to serve displaced individuals from Gaza, and in 2025, their
medical centre became officially registered, treating over 2,000 patients. With growing
recognition, the initiative is now set to expand with a new facility in northern Gaza.
From the house in Jericho, to all the lives of every person we have helped along the way ,
Yussef’s legacy lives on and we are committed now, more than ever, to continue making a
difference in the lives of the most vulnerable Palestinians by opening a new emergency primary
care centre in the North of Gaza.
Our team is small but effective, our operational lead is working in Palestine with the Ministry of
Health and local healthcare professionals, whilst our dedicated mentor and volunteers support
the charity within the UK. With the help of generous donors, we will recruit a team of doctors
and nurses on the ground
