Property Advice Service

This seminar seeks to introduce the “Property Advice Service” a programme funded through the UK Shared
Prosperity Fund (“UKSPF”). This business support programme is focused on the provision of free professional
advice and support to London-based business owners (start-ups or existing) who are considering or have already
rented any type of commercial property in the capital.

Research has shown that start-ups, micro-businesses and SMEs are the biggest employers of staff in London and
their ability to grow/scale up is essential for the continued creation of wealth/jobs in the capital. One of those key
challenges is securing the right commercial property on the right terms and landlords tend to have access to the
best possible advice they can afford. The programme will continue to try and level the playing field by making
sure business owners can also get access to professional advice.

Our seminar will look at some of the common points of interest:
Business Rates and the current relief schemes available
Leases - understanding the rights and obligations of tenant/landlord as outlined in the lease/key terms

We will also touch on those areas that will impact business owners renting commercial properties (that
includes office spaces) now and for the foreseeable future - Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards, Net Zero,
Planning.

The overall programme will build on the success of previous ones and lessons learnt. We are aware that more can
be done and with the cost of living/energy crisis continuing to have an impact on business owners access to
affordable professional advice as and when needed is ever more important.

We will be attending business shows such as the Great British Business Show and events organised by local
authorities to raise the profile of the programme. The core activities we will be doing is hosting regular face-to-face 
workshops/webinars, offering 1:1 or group sessions for business owners with specialist consultants to

The overall aim of the programme is to be a “One Stop-Shop” providing access to professional expertise on
commercial property areas and more, managed by London Business Partnership and its partners Gerald Eve and
University of Law as well as a number of independent specialist consultants.
