This lack of community is precisely the gap that BSGN was created to fill. As one of its founders notes, a key motivation was the realisation of "what we were missing within our professional careers is a real sense of sisterhood".

This is not just a casual networking group; it is a support system built on the pillars of Mentorship, Networking, Retreats, and Funding. At its heart, BSGN fosters what it calls a "professional sisterhood"—a circle of support where women can share challenges and successes without "backbiting and bitchiness," replacing competition with collective elevation. This is a space where you can say, "This is my problem at work. What do I do?" and receive honest, constructive guidance.

Crucially, BSGN connects members with "The Elevators"—successful trailblazers who have paved the way and are ready to steer others in the right direction through love and support. This mentorship pillar is vital, providing tangible advice from highly educated and accomplished Black women across various industries, from law and education to tech and property. It is about having a clear blueprint to success and a "circle to be a reflection of who I want to be".

However, the framework for success is not solely based on building a career. A core tenet of the BSGN ethos is that you cannot pour from an empty cup. The network places a strong emphasis on self-care, offering retreats designed to nurture "mind, physical health, and spiritual health". This is a crucial reminder that sustainable success requires balance and that "a lot of Black women don't, we put ourselves last".

The fourth pillar, Funding, tackles the significant economic barriers Black women face. With statistics highlighting that Black women access a tiny fraction of public funding, BSGN aims to level the playing field by signposting to grants and building partnerships to provide financial support for entrepreneurs. They are turning "passion into action" by providing clear pathways to capital.

Through mixers and high-level events, BSGN creates spaces where opportunities are born, and "genuine connections, meaningful conversations, and an atmosphere where opportunities are born" are fostered.
