Shattering Glass Ceilings For Underrepresented Girls in STEM

Despite increasing opportunities within Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), many girls from underrepresented groups continue to face barriers that limit their participation, confidence, and progression within these fields. This seminar will explore how Young Ladies Club has developed and delivered impactful STEM programmes in schools to address these challenges and inspire the next generation of female STEM leaders. Attendees will gain an overview of Young Ladies Club’s curriculum and learn about the evidence highlighting the need for greater representation and inclusion within STEM education and careers.

The session will showcase how partnerships with STEM organisations have provided young women with access to role models, industry professionals, hands-on learning opportunities, and career insights that broaden aspirations and challenge stereotypes.

The seminar will also examine the outcomes of the programme through evaluation findings, participant feedback, and case studies from young people, schools, and partner organisations. Participants will gain practical insights into effective approaches for engaging girls from underrepresented groups in STEM and learn how collaborative, community-based initiatives can help create more inclusive pathways into STEM education and employment.
